Mommy / Daddy & Me
This is an interactive class for parents and children. Children are introduced to dance and music and begin to learn how to work cooperatively with others. They are also encouraged to use their imaginations and to learn to listen and follow directions. This class gives children an opportunity to develop self-confidence, and parents the opportunity to participate in the growth and learning of their young child.

Creative Movement
This class is appropriate for children ages 3 1/2 to 4 years old. It introduces students to the structure of a dance class where listening and following directions are very important. Students learn basic ballet steps and begin to develop musicality. Imaginative exercises and improvisational dance are elements of each class that encourage students to discover the pure joy of movement and creativity.
Jazz & Hip Hop
All jazz classes are structured so as to develop in students a strong fundamental technique, and any student who is serious about dance is encouraged to also enroll in ballet. At FDA, students are trained to be versatile dancers and performers so that those who wish to pursue dance either in college or professionally will be better equipped to meet the demands of future choreographers and directors. Within advanced jazz classes, students learn dances of various styles including hip hop, musical theatre, lyrical jazz, and modern.
Tap
Create music with your feet! Tap is great for developing rhythm, coordination, and versatility as a dancer. Students are strongly encouraged to take tap along with ballet and / or jazz.
Contemporary Rhythm and Movement for Boys
This is an experimental class to give boys the opportunity to try dance. The class will focus on developing rhythm, coordination, strength, and flexibility. We would like dispel the notion that dance is not for boys. Dance enhances athletic ability and provides a creative outlet that can benefit any young person.
Combo Ballet / Jazz
*Intro to Ballet and Jazz: Students will spend the first half hour of class learning ballet and the second half learning jazz. Students must have ballet slippers. Jazz shoes are optional.
**Ballet / Jazz I and II Combo Classes: The first half of class will be spent leaning ballet and the second half jazz. Students must have both ballet and jazz shoes and must wear tights and a leotard to class (no jazz pants during ballet).
Ballet & Pointe
Ballet technique is essential for the development of a strong dancer. Beginning classes focus on proper placement and body alignment, and students are taught how to turn out safely from the hips. As students advance, training encourages precision, a quickness and lightness of movement, the ability to cover space with ease and grace, and a refined carriage of the upper body. Those who develop the required strength and control are promoted to pointe shoes.
Adult Stretch and Tone
This class is specifically designed for adults and no experience is required. It incorporates fun, dance-based movement for cardiovascular work with stretching and muscle strengthening exercises. Students should bring a yoga or pilates mat and light arm weights.
Dress Code for Youth Program
All students should arrive to class looking tidy and professional in appearance.
